Depends. My industrial honestly hurt pretty badly but I also have no pain tolerance whatsoever. 
But if you want one, I would just go for it. The pain is quick, the soreness and swelling will last a few days, but other than that you’ll just have to be gentle with it for a few months. And then, a lifetime of an awesome piercing.

if you have a good and experienced piercer it should be okay!! yes it will hurt, but it’ll be super quick and you can take pain meds afterwards if it’s too sore. i got my very first cartilage piercing two weeks ago—my daith—and my piercer was really nice, answered my 30+ questions beforehand, explained everything he was doing, let me listen to my music to calm me down, and asked if i was ready when he was all set up. it’s quick and you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world afterwards!!
