Natural food for dogs?

For the longest time I was cooking and preparing food for my dog. I was soooo tired of the ingredients that were listed in the dog food even if it said organic “. We wonder why dogs are living 8-10 years. I decided to purchase Dr.Marty natural blend. It’s raw, and freee from any foreign chemicals and preservatives

We feed a combination of high grade, grain free kibble, and raw, along with supplements. 
Our oldest dog right now is a 20 year old chihuahua, and she still runs around like a young dog. My dogs never have any health issues. Food does matter for them, just like it does for us. I don’t know why people don’t think it does. Putting corn and sugar in them everyday is so deteriorating on their health. I work with dogs everyday, and now what most of my clients feed, and it shows. A dog that eats Beneful everyday compared to a dog who eats a high grade, grain free, look completely different.

We can’t afford the super healthy food, but we do buy stuff that has meat and veggies as the top ingredients. My childhood dog lived to 17 and only went to the vet a handful of times over those years. The vet always told my parents how healthy she was and how beautiful her coat was. They were so impressed and asked what they fed her. Old Roy from Walmart.

I feed a combination. I can't afford the super good dog food. So i free choice feed the cheap dry stuff but he get a quart of homemade canned dog food every day.

My husky eats very expensive food but its food from a company that makes it only for them, husky/malamut/samoyed. Rich with salmon etc cuz that makes their fur shinier and softer. I get dry food from them and wet food in sauce and jelly. So far no problems, shes as healthy as can be 😊

I feed my animals what agree with their systems. My cat will not, and can not eat wet food or homemade food without getting sick. It took us years to find a food she can tolerate and at this point,  I'm just glad she's eating and keeping her food down.
My dog is on the same brand as my cat but she also refuses any sort of wet food or meats. 
I just do my best with what they'll eat 😭

I had a cat who lived 19.5 years on store bought kibble. 
My current cat has to have all his food prepared as he cant absorb nutrition properly. It is expensive and time consuming, but that is fine as he is now 10 and only was supposed to live until 3 with his disorder.

We don't feed the most expensive brand, far from it but I mix in home cooked food as well. Our oldest dog is going to be 10 soon, no issues. No plaque on her teeth, no cataracts, nothing.

My dog has eaten Blue Buffalo since he was a baby and is super healthy, acts like a puppy/crazy man still at 5.5. I know BB isnt the most raw or expensive brand (still $52/bag which lasts a month), but I’d never feed him shit from walmart or anything..

Raw and homemade diets have been proven for years now to be more harmful than good. Dogs are not wolves. Their bodies have evolved and they metabolize proteins, carbs, fats, and sugars differently. In the long run, raw and homemade diets have been shown to be linked to more kidney failure, diabetes, and liver disease. Not to mention more gi issues and puts the human handling the food at risk of contracting different diseases. Please speak with your vet and a board certified veterinary nutritionalist before using these diets. They go through 8 to 12 years of college for a reason!

Honestly, the raw food diet for dogs is really or miss. I work at a vet clinic. We've had several cases where it made the dog sick because they aren't getting enough nutrients. Others do great. There is an issue with dogs refusing to transition back to a regular diet if anything does happen. 
The only diet we tell people not to put any pets on is Blue Buffalo. We've treated puppies and dogs who got sick because of that food, and one had to be transferred to a 24 hr hospital because we almost lost it. My brothers dog got sick when he switched her to that brand. They have a huge lawsuit against them because several deaths have been connected to their food.
