Experience with Nexplanon?

I’m debating between the IUD and Nexplanon. I’d rather not have someone poking and prodding down there so I’m stuck between the two.

I have the mirena iud and i love it. Insertion appt was 5 mins including check and walking out. It felt the intense cramps but then i went to work the same day. I had bad cramps for 2 weeks as my only side effect. After month 4 it stopped my periods which i love. Ive had it 10 months and we dont use condoms or pull out i havent gotten pregnant. I do my monthly string checks. I love it. I havent had nexplanon. With either it is common to have irregular periods the first 6 months so give it time for your body to adjust.

I haven't had Nexplanon, but just something to think about:
I had a bad reaction to the pill and had to decide between Mirena IUD and Nexplanon. At first I wanted Nexplanon because I was a virgin, never been to the gyno before, didn't want anyone "poking down there". I don't even use tampons. But then I thought about it and researched more, and I just knew if I got something implanted in my arm, I'd mess with it and probably dislodge it and need surgery. I pick at things, I chew my nails, I chip off nail polish, I know I'd fiddle with the implant. I cannot, however, screw up an IUD. 
I've had Mirena for 2 years now, it hurt going in, but then I get 5 years of light periods, decreased cramping, and never having to remember to take a pill again.

I had the nexplanon and experienced severe weight gain and crippling depression and had to beg my doctor to take it out to the point that I had to threaten to remove it myself because she said that she wanted me to stick out the full three years and step away from the table. I never changed my eating habits and lost 25 pounds the month after it was taken out. Everyone is different but I don’t recommend the nexplanon.

I have nexplanon and like it. There was some mood swings at the beginning and some weight gain, but that's a small price to pay for not getting pregnant.

Personally I just got the nexplanon and its amazing havent gotten pregnant with it.
