Standing/pressure causing dilation?

Nicole

Hey ladies, this may be a dumb question but I'm curious and have no clue. 😅

I am 33 weeks pregnant and at 32 weeks I had my cervix checked and I had dilated to 1cm and was starting to thin (was at 2.2 cm, I was normally 3.6-4 before). I had to stay in the hospital overnight and take the rest of the week off last week because I am high risk for preterm.

I stand constantly at my job, 5 hours straight. I had alot of pelvic pressure by the end of the day (which is normal for me when I work) and was having some strong b/h that were hard to walk through with the pressure. All of that has calmed down since getting home, just a little sore.

But can just standing and being on your feet for that amount of time cause cervical thinning or dilation? Especially being high risk and already dilated some? I know many women are already dilated that much by this time but was wondering if its a possibility? Or am I just worrying too much. My doctor did take me out of work for 2 days after my check because of the standing from my job. Is that because it could possibly cause further dilation or thinning? Because I have no idea! 😅🤔

TIA! 🤗
