Is 10 weeks a little late to be having my first ultrasound?

Also usually around what week can you typically hear a heartbeat. Sorry I don’t know anything about pregnancies. I’m the youngest on both sides of my family, and I have never been pregnant.

First pregnancy and from the UK 🙋🏻‍♀️
In the UK your first midwife appointment is normally scheduled for when your 8 weeks and then they book your first scan when your 12 weeks and your gender scan at 20. Obviously if there is complications or anything you get more scans but if it's all good you just get the to.... I haven't got the patience to wait until I'm 12 weeks for my first so I have paid £70 for a 9week privet scan:)

The earliest i heard one of my babies hb was at 5weeks 1day emergency ultrasound due to spotting and cramping unfortunately it ended in a missed miscarriage. If this is your first pregnancy and everything is looking great no spotting, horrible cramping they won't usually do your first ultrasound until you are 20weeks well atleast that's how they do here where i live the earliest a dr will try to find a hb with a doppler can be at 12weeks but with my 5th baby i found it at 8weeks took me a few tries and alot of patience to find it ..... We only get 2 scans. A 12 week scan and a 20 week scan. Unless you're high risk or the doctor couldn't get the information they are looking for then you'll have more. Or if you pay private.
With my son I had mine at 13.5 weeks then 21.3 weeks. Then in my third tri I had a growth scan.
This pregnancy I've not even had a booking appointment yet but I feel different about this pregnancy and I've paid £59 to get a private scan in 2 weeks!

My first pregnancy I was seen early only because I began to bleed. It resulted in a miscarriage. My 2nd they insisted I wait until at least 8 weeks, but they tried for almost 10 weeks. It makes sense now looking back after a few miscarriages and a healthy baby. Its pointless for early scans without a concrete explanation behind it. I also didnt hear my baby's heartbeat until 10 weeks. We saw the flicker, but baby was still too small to pick up the sound. 😊

I will be exactly 10 weeks for my first appointment. The hospital around me waits until you are between 8 to 10 weeks. The only reason I got to see my baby the first time was cause I had to go to the hospital cause I was bleeding, but everything turned out fine and was measuring about a week further than I thought!
