Can tampons cause itchiness, redness, and slight inflammation after using them for a week after not using them for months.

Is it possible you are using too high absorbency? I normally use super but if my period is not heavy enough it causes irritation like you mentioned.

I get irritated like that when I use tampons for too long. I have we learned to use tampons just when I need to (sport, swimming, hiking, cycling), and pads the rest of the time.
I also found tampons to be very uncomfortable when I do not flow enough to fill them before taking it out.
