Miscarriage??

Soooo my period was due 5 days ago, I was spotting a bit for the last week but not much at all very light. Today I had very heavy bleeding, a lot of clots and lumps. It will not stop. It’s nothing like my usual periods it’s extremely painful and feels like a mini birth when I pass a clot. If I am miscarrying will a pregnancy test show up a positive? Because it’s only 5 days after my missed period I don’t know if it is too early especially because the pregnancy may not still be intact. I don’t have my car at the minute so I would need to get somebody to go get me a test. Opinions please do I need to get a test ASAP or wait it out and see if bleeding stops / calms down aka might just be my period.
