Membrane Sweep??

Hi Mamas , just wondering I'm 38 weeks exact today and this is our 5Th baby I have never had a membrane sweep so just wondering my next appointment is Wednesday, if I ask my OB/GYN can they give me one or do they only do them when you are closer to or past your due date??  I'm so ready for him to be here and trying to see if that will help since I'm already dilated and cervix is soft and baby is low.?

My dr wouldn’t until 39 weeks but that varies with each practice. From what I underatand you have to just be dilated before they can.

My dr tried at my last appt at almost 37 weeks but im not dilated at all. All drs are different

Mine did it at 37w 2d. They can only to it if you are at least 1CM dilated and you have to be at least 50% effaced. 
Its slightly painful but its quick. Also, that was 5 days ago and, yes I've been having more contractions, but I'm still pregnant haha

I’ll be 39 weeks tomorrow and my dr said at my appt Friday (38 + 4) she’ll do one next week at 39 + 4. Hoping baby girl will come before then, I’m so ready for her.

I got it done at exactly 38 weeks. It didn’t help I just had a lot of cramping for a week until I was induced

I asked my doctor she doesn’t do them due to risking infection and ruptured membranes
