Stupid argument, Cute gesture
So my boyfriend’s been kinda snappy lately because it’s been super hot outside (97+ degrees every day) and we’ve been having financial issues (mostly with our only vehicle).
Well I was making pancakes for dinner, but we didn’t have any eggs. I had previously asked him if he’d been okay with peanut butter chips in the pancakes, but he said he didn’t like it. Okay, that’s fine.
I asked him (because I was already in pjs with no bra) to run to Walmart literally 5 minutes down the street to get a half dozen eggs, that way I could make dinner. He just kinda sighed and sat there watching tv.
I said “Never mind” and went to the bedroom to change so that I could go (since he couldn’t be bothered). Then he came in the room and said he’s gonna go. So I said “Okay.” And just went to sit where he’d been sitting in the living room.
On his way out, he stopped beside me and said “I love you.” It was so flat and emotionless, I just said (not with an attitude, just upset) “Can you mean it?” He got pissed off and just walked out.
Here it is about a half hour later and I’m really wondering where tf he’s at. He comes in the door not even a minute later and says “I’m sorry for getting pissed and walking out. I shouldn’t have done that.”
He gave me the bag and told me that he got the eggs, but also more pb chips for my pancakes and some chocolate chips for his pancakes. He knew I’d be really upset that he walked out and he wanted to make up for it. It was a small gesture, but it really meant a lot to me 💙
Edit:
When I said “Can you mean it?” I didn’t have an attitude at all. I was sad. The way he’d said “I love you” was the same as anyone would say “yeah, whatever.” He was just saying it as a routine because we always say it when we’re leaving. He even apologized later because he’d said it without meaning it.
