No period doctors appointment?? What to expect?

I havent had a period since having my son in May 2017. My last offical period was august 2016. (Not including after birth) i was on birth control before we tried for our son and i had regular periods every month that came like clockwork and i was regular before birth control. Anyways i came off in January this year and no period still? doctor said to come back in 4/5 months if i haven't had a period and theyll start doing tests.. what can i expect? Will he give me something to start my period again? Were trying for baby 2 :) thanks
