New pediatrician or no?!?!

S

Sorry in advance for the long post but I need help.

My son is 6 weeks old and has been to his pediatrician 3 times so far (apt at 3 days old, weight check 2 days later, and 1 month apt). Our next apt is in 2 weeks and he’ll be getting his first couple shots.

Pros of the pediatrician we have now: it’s only a couple miles from the house so it’s easy for my husband to take off work for a few minutes and go and it’ll be easy for me when I go back to work, the pediatrician has a policy that she lets her patients call her when she’s not working if they have an important question, and she’s already met our baby 3 times

Cons: not very personable (I feel like I’m just another patient), my baby started sticking out his tongue and moving his head to the side when she was weighing him and she says to him “what’s with the tongue? Did you just find your tongue?” I thought it was obvious that that’s a feeding cue.... I just don’t like that she doesn’t know that. Also, she makes me feel uncomfortable when I bring up what shots I don’t want him getting (there’s only a couple we aren’t doing), she just doesn’t seem to be up to date on baby things. I also sleep with my son on my chest but I don’t plan on doing that for too long but I wouldn’t feel comfortable bringing that up to the pediatrician.

Idk if these things aren’t a big deal and I should just suck it up but if I should get a new one, how do I know if it’s a good doc or just another one I won’t like? Idk what questions to ask before I make a first apt.
