Are you getting / did you get the tdap shot?? Have you experienced any complications with either way?

They’ve never tested vaccines for safety in pregnant women, not even the recommended ones. They rely on post marketing data for safety statistics, but only 1% of vaccine reactions are even reported. This was proven in court earlier this year. So, definitely not and my OB & midwife have both recommended against getting it or the flu shot during pregnancy. They used to be adamant about it, but after concerns were brought up by other patients and my OB’s wife, he started doing research and now doesn’t vaccinate his family either. It feels good not to have to fight with my care practitioners any longer after 4 years for the health my myself and my babies, because of adverse reactions after every single vaccine that I received as a child.

I have a friend that got hers and had a really bad reaction. Not sure if it was related but her son has severe autism. My SIL is an ER doctor and and she sees reactions to vaccines first hand. She advised me to get zero vaccines while pregnant.

I don’t plan to, what bothers me is I’ve already been vaccinated for tdap we all have when we were teens so why in the world should we do it a second time! I don’t feel that everything we are told to do is completely necessary.

I don't feel comfortable getting vaccinated during pregnancy. I've had the shot as a teen and don't see why I need it again. I asked my midwife if she recommends getting tdap during pregnancy and she said that there aren't enough studies done to prove the effectiveness.

I got it at 27 weeks. The point of the TDaP vaccine in pregnancy is to provide passive immunity to the baby for pertussis (whooping cough) through maternal antibodies. It doesn’t matter if your previous jab was less than 10 years ago (for example, I got my last booster less than 3 years ago) - doing it during pregnancy boosts the maternal antibody load to “prime” them in case pertussis is encountered. Then, if it is, the baby is protected after birth through antibodies present in the parents’ milk. As someone who plans on doing a delayed vax schedule, having that increased immune protection for my baby is super important, especially since I have had the vaccine before and know that I tolerate it well.
