Hearing aids

h

In November of last year, after years of asking people to repeat themselves (so many times that they just give up), I finally got my first hearing aids.

I am only 19, and at first I was scared what people would think of them. But no one has ever even noticed them unless I point them out.

I’ve noticed so many things that have improved. I’m so much more sociable, I believe that part of my social anxiety came from my hearing disability. And my quality of life is so much more ‘colourful’. By that I mean louder lol.

Today I was sitting in class circling my coffee mug, just smiling as I listened to the sound of the froth swishing in the mug. You can hear froth? Who knew! I certainly didn’t 😂

I didn’t realize how rare silence really is, as the only time I really hear nothing is when I take out my hearing aids, it’s quite incredible!!

The sound of a laptop fan, the fridge, even my light up mirror make a buzzing noise! And birds! They’re so noisy - in such a wonderful way!

I’m so excited to keep hearing new sounds, sounds I never knew I was missing out on.

Anyways, all I wanted to do was share how beautiful even the simplest of things in life are ☺️☺️
