Crib or bassinet?

We’re doing bassinet in our room for the first few months then gonna transition the baby to his crib.

I’m a first time mom, my current plan is to get bassinet/cosleeper that attaches to our bed for the first 3 month or so and then transition to the crib in baby’s room.

Just make sure the bassinet follows accepted Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. No blankets, bumpers, stuffed animals or loose bedding. A lot of “traditional” bassinets do not adhere to these guidelines.
Just want to make sure baby is safe!

With my first I did a halo bassinet next to my side of the bed until 8 weeks when he grew out of it using the Merlin sleepsuit. Our baby got our old bedroom so we set up his crib in there but we kept our bed in there and room shared until he was closer to sleeping through the night at 7 months. Room sharing alieved some of my anxiety about sids and he was up and down all night so I had to get up with him a lot. Also nothing beats waking up to a cute happy baby sitting up in their crib peering at you through their crib slats in the morning 🥰

Curious, for those doing the crib in their own room do you plan to start that way from the start? I’ve heard the usual method was bassinet in your room and to transition to a crib after several months.
Any advice or opinions? This is my first. Thanks!

Didn’t know how to reply to the poll because we’re doing bassinet/cosleeper mini crib for the first 6 months or so then switching to a crib which will also be in our room.

I have a crib for their own room and I have a bassinet which I move from the living room to the kitchen. Or I’ll take the basket outside when the other children are playing.

I co slept with both my baby’s but now after me trying to get the second one out of my bed at 2 years old! This pregnancy I’m putting the baby in a bassinet! Lol  it’s going to be all new to me.

We are backing up the crib to our bed, taking half a side off and basically extending our bed to cosleep. If done properly, baby gets her own space, and I can just reach out and grab her. No space between mattresses.
