Boardbooks for the first two years at least 😂😂😂 tried regular books and my son just ripped pages while trying to turn them or fold pages over and just ruined the book - we have a couple we just read to him but he always likes to turn the page and usually ends up ripping them...and hubby is paranoid he’s going to get a paper cut 😂😂

I buy everything. I have some special books in hardcover that are kept out of his reach. Then I buy a bunch of books at the thrift store. That way he learns to be gentle with books but if a 10 cent book gets ripped in the process I won’t get upset. My first is 2 1/2 now and we have only had to get rid of 4 books because they were damaged. He’s very gentle with them.

I will buy some special books with paper pages. But the board books are going to survive those toddler and preschool years so much better.

Board books if we are going to look at pictures together, but I also read to him whatever I am reading as part of the bedtime routine.
