Can I spray paint a crib?

I’m been looking into painting my brown used crib white. I saw someone online use spray paint, with a really good non-toxic topcoat. Would that be okay? I’m only worry is the baby getting older and chewing on it and eating paint.

My kid chewed on the edge of her crib(through the cherry wood finish) when she could stand so I'd be careful.

Make sure it's a safe paint that doesn't chip - oil based is more toxic initially so needs to off gas for a few weeks in a ventilated space, but then sets hard and won't chip. Water based low VOC is always best around babies but can chip. Some spray pains have toxins in the aerosol. You need to research what's best.

It should be safe as long as you get the right top coat. You definitely want to use one over the paint.

Just research the paints and top coats and use the safest one you can find. You can also buy a rail guard that protects the baby from hitting their head or chewing on the rail once they’re old enough to stand.
