Hi friends,

I was just hoping to get a few opinions. I’m extremely accurate with taking my birth control, but as this is a situation that has never happened to me I figured I would ask.

I take my BC at the exact same time everyday and it has been 100% reliable. However, this morning I rapidly came down with a raging kidney infection and ended up on IV antibiotics with a prescription for oral antibiotics starting tomorrow. I asked if these would impact the efficacy of my BC - they said the IV wouldn’t but the pills might, and going forward to use a backup method for two weeks after stopping the antibiotics. This is all fine and good, but my slight concern is that my partner did cum inside me day before yesterday, and I know those pesky little swimmers can survive for longer than that.

Do any of you think I should take Plan B to be extra safe? I’m pretty confident that I’m okay since I’ve been on the pill long term, but there is that little bit of nervousness as I plan to stay child free.
