Change of successful fertilization with only 5 eggs retrieved?

Question

I am doing my second round of IVF first cycle was successful. I have my EC booked in for Tuesday morning but my scan showed only 7 decent follicles so would only have a few eggs to try to fertilize. I want to feel like 5 eggs is enough but don’t think I will have any to freeze if it doesn’t work this time. Has anyone had a small amount of eggs retrieved, fertilised and made it to transfer?

Sometimes there are extra follicles “hiding”! After my egg retrieval the nurse told me that they thought they were only going to retrieve 8, but ended up retrieving 14!

I had 9 retrieved, 8 mature, 8 fertilized and 5 made it to freeze. Transferred 2 and am currently pregnant with a singleton! I was disappointment cuz some women get a ton of eggs but it seems like a lot of them also end up with a similar amount by day 5 as those who have fewer retrieved. Quality > Quantity. Good luck!

A friend of mine had 3 retrieved and only one viable embryo. It was implanted and she had a beautiful daughter 9 months later. Hope it works out for you as well! Baby dust to you!!

I had 6 retrieved, 5 mature, 2 fertilize, 1 made it to freeze with the other being given another day but unlikely.  Now waiting on PGS results.  Good luck!

I had 6 retrieved, 5 mature, 4 fertilized, transferred one day 3 (bfn) and 2 made it to freeze!!
