Can you wait until marriage before you have sex? Give your reasons please

I waited until marriage to have sex. I also didn’t do anything sexual at all while dating my husband for 4 years. 
I view virginity as a gift for me personally. I refused to give a special part of myself to someone who wouldn’t potentially be with me in the future and who wouldn’t appreciate and value the special part of me that I chose to give to them. 
My husband proved that he was worthy of me, my mind, my heart, my soul, and my virginity. He respected my wishes. I valued myself enough to where I treasured my virginity and I respected myself to give it to the man that proved himself worthy of being in a relationship with me. 
Me waiting didn’t really come from a religious standpoint. I am Christian but my religion doesn’t dictate what I do sexually. It came from my own personal morals and values. 
Waiting until marriage was the best choice for me ❤️❤️❤️

If you can wait then you are stronger than I was lol. The only guy I've slept with was my husband, but we had sex before we got married. It was about 6 months into the relationship, and I think I knew then that I would marry him. We just weren't ready for marriage at the time.

I didn’t, and I’m glad. I would’ve made an awful decision for a husband if I had waited. We were not sexually compatible at all. All I could think about was how much of a chore it became. I thought how miserable our sex life and future marriage would’ve been if we had stayed together. We both wanted to wait until marriage, but having been together for 3 years already, we decided to go for it. We were together a total of 5 years before we broke up, and that was the best decision we could’ve made for ourselves. 
Now I’m with someone else and we slept together 1 month in, before we were even official lol and we have the most amazing sexual chemistry. I have never viewed it as a chore or as anything negative. It’s been 2 years now and we can’t wait for our honeymoon night. 
Bottom line is, I could’ve totally waited until marriage with my ex fiancé, but that would’ve been a mistake. Had I done that, I would’ve never met my SO now, my soul mate. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted and I am glad to call him my fiancé now.
