Why are menstrual cramps so bad !!

Like I'm serious . this is one month my cramps are so freaking bad . but what's the reasons behind cramps ? Anyone know ?

Cramps are caused by muscles contracting for the uterus to shed the lining that would have otherwise been for a baby
