Vitex for short luteal phase? Any suggestions, thoughts, or dosage?

I typically have a short cycle. 22-24 days. Some months a barely make it to the 11/12 days needed for luteal phase. Has anyone used vitex to help this issue? Success or failure? Pro cons? Dosage? Recommend or regret?

If you have a 10 day luteal phase or longer, I’d stay away from it.

I took it for late ovulation (CD 19) and short LP of 9 days. 
Could be a coincidence but I started taking it cycle day 12 (because that’s when it arrived after ordering it and I wanted to start ASAP). That cycle I ovulated 2 days early and got my BFP!! 
I took two pills every night (I can’t remember exactly as it was months ago, but I think that dosage ended up being 800mg).
