Do you find baby talk annoying

My mother in law insists on talking to my(almost 3 month old) daughter in the most high pitch baby talk imaginable. It drives me crazy. A little here and there isnt bad but it's the only way she talks to her.... shes from out of town so she doesnt visit often (thankfully) but its driving me bananas. I feel bad asking her to stop because she doesnt get to see her grand daughter often but it makes my skin crawl hearing the baby talk.

Yep! Its only my MIL that does it and it drives he insane!! She gets really close to my baby’s face, calling her name over and over in a very high pitched voice. Omg it’s dreadful!

I can’t stand the way my boyfriends dad talks to our son. It drives me nuts!! We don’t go over there very much because of it

My grandma baby talks my son and it’s like nails on chalkboard.

It’s natural instinct to speak to babies in a slower singsong voice and this is because it helps them with language. The slow, rhythmic talk is much easier for them to hear and to be able to distinguish sounds.

Ugh it drives me nuts!  And there is a definitely correlation with baby talk and late talkers.

I like to practice RIE (respectful parenting pretty much) and you talk to the baby/child with respect like you would and adult (voice pitch anyways), so I like to tell family that I practice this kind of parenting and that they should try to; so it’s not really offensive and it’s good for the baby (:
