High Chair?

Hi mama’s, DD (dear daughter) just turned six months old this past week and we go next week for her 6 month check up. I’m pretty sure we’re gonna get the go ahead for solids, and I still don’t have a high chair. I’ve been looking into a few, but I was wondering what kind you all have and love. I would like to have one that will go from baby to toddler. I really love the Oribel Cocoon high chair, but $200 just seems ridiculous to spend on a high chair when we could spend that on diapers, toys, clothes etc.

I had a high chair for my first but it took up space and disliked having to move it around all the time so we got an inexpensive booster seat with a tray that straps onto a chair with our second and we’re using it for our third. It’s easier to clean and takes up literally no space.

I bought a regular graco kind from target. It came as a high chair and the seat was able to come off to make a booster chair. We used it for nearly 2 years and was the best thing ever. Easy to clean, easy to use. Spending so much on a high chair is just silly in my opinion. You really don't need such a fancy chair that's just going to get covered in food.

I just bought a basic one from chico that connects right to a chair for 20.00. 200.00 is ridiculous for a high chair. No reason to ever spend that much even if it is your first baby

I have the Oribel Cocoon (2 actually because I have twins!) and I wouldn’t recommend it. For when they are NB is great because they can just lie there at a good height. BUT... once they start eating it doesn’t offer enough support. It’s like too inclined to the back... I use it sometimes now that mine are 18m but still not amazing.
Best thing ever: IKEA HIGH CHAIRS.
I paid 15€ including the cushion and MY TWINS LOVE THEM. They are easy to clean, easy to transport, they cannot escape, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM ENOUGH!! If later you want another one you just leave the 15€ one at your parents and voila! No money wasted.
The trip trap from Stokke is cool but it’s so expensive! You also need the inserts for the first stage and those don’t come for free either.

The Antilop from IKEA is great. It’s like $20 and cleans up super easily. It would be better if it had a foot rest but you can buy or make one separately. Just make sure whatever you choose doesn’t tip your baby’s hips back. The Fisher Price SpaceSaver is great for non-sitting babies to just be at the table for meals with the family, but once my son started eating it leans him back in a way that just isn’t comfortable or optimum from alignment/posture. You want baby to be supported but also have good posture.

I plan on getting the Stokke Tripp Trapp, which is even more expensive (though it can be used until their adults, so you get more for your money). I guess it just depends on your personal feelings. If you're really worried about it, buy it from a place with a good return policy just in case you find it wasn't worth dropping that much on.

I purchased an expensive $200 chair that could be used from 4 mths. It had a padded seat and reclined so she could lie back into it. Once she hit 6mths and was eating more solids she wanted to be more upright and this chair wouldn’t sit her straight up all the way. One day we took her to a restaurant and put her in their high chair and she was so happy! Eating like a champ and moving her head/body around easily. It was an ikea high chair! So we went straight to ikea and purchased their $25 chair and the $200 has been in storage ever since!!

I used this one at first because my sister gave it to me. But our kitchen chairs dont have a back so we would just sit him on the floor in this but then when he got a bit older and we did full baby led weaning and he joined in on meal times I had to buy a new one.

So we are now using this one, I wanted just a standard one because my son gets very messy lol and it's very easy to assemble and to clean.
