Should it be legal to get married before you’re an adult?

I keep seeing posts and young women talking about marrying under the age of 18. We’re talking 15.5-17 people. While some are pregnant / have babies, I don’t think that’s a reason to be married and additionally, as more and more studies are revealing, our minds are not 100% developed until our mid-late 20s. While I’m not suggesting making it illegal to marry before 25 (which is the average age scientists are suggesting) I think it’s completely impulsive and irresponsible for 15-17 year olds to get married. I’ve been with my partner since I was 15. I was not prepared to marry him then and I’m not prepared to marry him now. Some of these couples (on this app, on the news, etc.) have been dating for mere months. Approaching my 20s, I still would not marry him until I feel responsible enough. As someone who’s still technically a “teen”, my priorities are education, work, and continuing to grow my relationship without rushing into a marriage. I’ve been with him for 3 years and i would have been shocked and probably wouldn’t have stayed with him had he wanted to marry me at only 6-8 months like some of these couples. In my personal opinion, from the young marriages I’ve witnessed as well (including my parents) they don’t last because the couple was extremely young and didn’t think of all the potential consequences of pregnancy, divorce, and a lack of education that would weigh on them and their spouse. So why isn’t the law enforced to protect CHILDREN from marrying one another?! (and sometimes adults, I’ve seen posts/articles of 16-17 yr olds marrying 19-20 something year olds).
