So my boyfriends family is super open and loving towards me. I’m always invited to big holidays and I go to all of their family events. They even make me special food because they know I’m vegan.

On the other hand, my family doesn’t even think to include him. I had to tell my brother to change our reservation to 5 because my boyfriend is coming with us for Father’s Day. Especially since his dad died last year. And they make it so weird! My mom literally said “well let him spend that time with his mom.”

I feel like they don’t take me or my relationship seriously. I don’t understand why they’re so fucking cold to him and Not inclusive they make every family event so uncomfortable for me because they say “well he should spend it with his own family.”

They LOVE him and always want us to come visit and hang out so I don’t understand why they do this. It fucking sucks.

. Is anyone else’s family like this? and how do I handle it and make them treat me like an adult? My boyfriend and I live together for gods sake!

UPDATE: talked on the phone with my 20 yo brother today and he feels like he’s “losing me.” I’ve invited him over all the time and whenever I’m at my parents he’s out with his friends.
