Strollers and car seats check as baggage for free on most (if not all) airlines. If you prefer to have them inside the airport, you can gate-check them while boarding the plane, it just takes a little longer to wait for those items while you’re getting off the plane. I do recommend getting one of the airline bags to protect the car seat if you are checking it as baggage. Keeps it clean in the underbelly of the plane. Also, if you’re formula feeding and need water to mix, they will let you bring that through security as long as you explain that it is for the baby. Try to feed the baby as you’re taking off, the swallowing motion will help relieve pressure from their ears popping. Also, because you have an infant, i believe that qualifies you as one of those people that “needs more time” boarding the plane and they may let you board sooner.
Traveling on a plane
Hi All,
We are traveling with an 11 week old on a four hour plane ride. Any tips or tricks for getting through the airport smoothly as well as the plane ride?
Thank you
