Flying with a 5 week old
I'm in my third trimester with #2, with an induction date for August 26th for medical reasons. We live in Idaho, with all our family in Kansas. My grandparents are old and none are doing well. A generous family member offered to pay for us to fly home after baby is born to be able to see grandparents and so they can meet baby. Without this trip (it would have be the first week of October due to our hectic schedule, and trying to avoid flu season as much as possible), we wouldn't be able to afford to go home for a couple years, and my grandparents don't have that long. I know new baby will be SO much easier to fly with compared to my 1.5 year old, but I'm concerned 1) because I still was wearing depends and felt like death 5 weeks pp with my son, and 2) baby won't be vaccinated yet. It will be one 3 hour flight, layover, then a 1.5 hour flight. Flying Southwest, so if we have to cancel the trip, they will save our tickets for another time. I hate to pass up a free trip home and not get the chance to say goodbye, but also have anxiety about it. Any advice or encouragement?
