Why do people say stuff like this?
We flew back to my hubby’s home state today to stay with his sister for a few weeks. Our flight left at 6:30 am and we were up at 3:30. Baby slept great the night before, but I didn’t, resulting in my getting only like three hours of sleep.
When we got to my sister-in-laws this afternoon after multiple car and bus rides and the flight I was absolutely exhausted. I felt achy from fatigue and did not feel okay at all. I haven’t slept through the night since my LO was born March 11th, so I generally just felt terrible.
So my father-in-law shows up who had visited us a month ago for LO’s baptism. After he gets there, I feed baby and tell my husband I’m going to take a nap and I don’t feel well. My FIL says, every time I see you you’re taking a nap or an extra long shower (he watched LO while I showered when he visited us). And idk, but it just annoyed me!!! Let this mama take a nap or a shower without feeling guilty (because I already do) when I really need it!
My husband, sister-in-law, and FIL were there to watch the baby while I napped for an hour. I get that I’m my baby’s primary caregiver, but can I just. take. a. nap?
Why do people say stuff like this??? Even if he was probably joking, it bothered me... Us mamas are expected to do so much. We deserve a few guilt-free breaks.
