Birth Control and Period?

I started birth control two weeks ago (The pill). I’ve been bleeding lightly while taking the pill. Is this my period? Maybe I should have waited until I got my period to start? Should I still continue to take the pill once a day? 
I haven’t been on the pill in forever!

Continue to take the pill. The bleeding is probably just breakthrough because your body is adjusting to the new hormone levels. You’ll probably get your period when you go on the empty pills. 
I got lucky( if you can call it that) and got my period the day after I picked up my birth control. Thank for! I swear it’s taken the edge off but I still feel horrible.

I got my first period back during the last week of the active pills. You'll know when you get it, the first one back is the worst! It can be real heavy and last longer than it usually would.
