IV during birth?

I know this might not be the right group for this but this is giving me terrible anxiety and id like my nerves eased hopefully. When you're in the hospital going into labor do they HAVE to put the IV in your hand? Several doctors have attempted to IV my hand but NOBODY COULD EVER FIND A F****NG VEIN!!!! They end up just stabbing my bones digging the needle around in my hand and bull*******g around. Can I have the IV in the crease of my arm where I KNOW theres an available vein? Is that too much to ask?
