IUD experience? Just removed implant

Question

I just wanted to ask about everyone’s experience with getting the copper iud (Paragard) as well as removing the implant (Nexplanon). I did both in one day and my body was so confused. Insertion for the IUD was so painful. My period was so heavy and cramps were so strong. Now I have some thick, nasty discharge that I got the day before i got my period as well as an hour ago. I’ll attach a picture even though it’s quite nasty looking. Beware!

I didn't bleed and mine was pretty painless. I've had it for nine months and here is my experience:
- No pain or bleeding during or after insertion.
- I now get mild period pains (I never used to get any)
- I've always had heavy periods but now they are much heavier.
- Mostly during the first 3-6 months I started getting excessive amounts of clear-ish, thin discharge.
- So far no pregnancy scare so it seems to be doing its job.

Answer

Same thing happened to me when I got my paragard. My doctor told me I was probably going to bleed afterwards and she was right.
