Gifts for in laws? Necessity?

So I’m getting married in the fall, and I’m not sure if I should get my in laws something. My fiancé doesn’t care about getting them anything either, and I’m not sure if I should. Neither of us are giving gifts to my parents as I’m not close with them, although they will be attending. I also don’t think it’s necessary considering neither his mom or dad helped with planning the wedding. I’m just not sure if it’s required or anything, and if it is if there is something smaller I could get them that would suffice. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!
