Is my bf’s mom right for asking us to break up?

My boyfriend’s mom told me that she doesn’t want her son dating (she says it’s not me, she would be the same for anyone). Note that my bf and I are 21 and have been dating for nearly 5 years already though she doesn’t know this because of how controlling she is. I finally thought that this would be the right age to tell her but now she’s playing the “oh he needs to focus on University and not on girls” card. He’s damn 21 and he should be able to manage his own life so why does she have to be like this assfdhsjakak

Anyway, my bf and I are still together. She just thinks we’re best friends. Ever since she found out that we were dating, she makes my bf study in the dining room and without his phone so that he doesn’t contact me. And he isn’t allowed to even see me until his tests are over. How am I to ever be okay with this woman being my mother in law??
