Rice formula or no?

My son is 3 months old. And wants to eat constantly he is strictly breastfed but thinking about weaning soon. Should I try adding rice formula to my breast milk? Hes going through my stash like crazy and I'm afraid before to long I wont have enough for him.. what should I do?

Rice cereal has no nutritional value and shouldnt be given in a bottle and should definitely not be given before 6 months of age. If you're supply is dwindling give him formula to supplement.

No, rice in bottle is not recommended and can be a choking hazard. Plus rice has no nutritional value and it’s like giving your baby a heap of sugar. It also does very little to fill them up despite popular belief. He’s also too young and will likely cause constipation and other tummy issues. Babies his age go through growth spurts and like to cluster feed and that’s most likely why he’s wanting to eat more, which is normal.

No. There is no benefits what so ever to rice cereal. Your baby only needs milk until 6 months old then you can start to introduce solids with the odd sip of water at meal times. Milk is their main source until 12 months of age.

I started putting rice cereal in my sons bottle at 4mo cause milk alone wasn’t cutting it anymore. Pediatrician was ok with it and today he is a strong and tall 9yo boy who is way above the growth chart and is rarely ever sick as well. Honestly do what you think is best.

I did that for my daughter but only because she had terrible colics and that was the best remedy and that helps her to feel full at the same time

Sounds like a question for the pediatrician. My pediatrician doesn't recommend anything besides breast milk until 6 months. I've heard rice cereal isn't recommended because there's no nutritional value.

My pediatrician recommended it for my 3 1/2 week old when he hits 1 month cause he’s a bit colicky.  Honestly every pediatrician says something different, so just do what you believe is right.

My son eats like crazy. My pediatrician said ‘adds no nutrition’ but then advised me to make my own decisions & if I start to use it to be honest about it. We use it at night.
