Talk to ped about speech

My sons 2 year old wellness appointment is today and I'm scared to talk to her about his speech. He doesn't talk, not like he should anyways. Some people tell me to just let it go, that he will talk on his own time. But I just feel like that's not right. And I know she's going to ask, so I cant lie. I just dont know what to do.
