Does insurance cover NIPT?

I am 31 years old and this is my first pregnancy. I am currently 10 weeks along.I was offered a (NIPT) to help detect any early signs of Down syndrome. Does anyone know if insurance generally covers this ? I plan on inquiring with my insurance but I have a gut feeling they won’t cover it.

It depends on your insurance. Mine will only cover it if I am over 35.

With my first in 2017, my insurance covered it. Today, at 30 with my second pregnancy they decided not to cover it 😑🤷🏽‍♀️
Generally, insurance will not cover it unless you are 35 and older or have other high-risk components (such as previous history of chromosomal abnormalities or multiple miscarriages).

You have to call your insurance and ask them, they will want test and the code your doctor used to order it for coding. Mine covers for any age but can be pricey if not covered.

It’s only covered if over 40years old and there couple other reason it can be covered 
The ministry pays for it and OB had to sign form

I just got the NIPT done and the form does ask for your health insurance info. I think it depends on what kind of health insurance you have though. I looked mine up online to see if it covered it and it did.
