When introducing milk to one year old

Does it have to be whole milk? I drink plant based milk. And so that’s what I’ve been giving my son. Yesterday my aunt told me I should be giving whole milk.

I am still breastfeeding if that makes any difference. We are currently trying to wean him off

Humans are literally the only species that drinks milk past infant stage and the only ones that drink other species milk.. if ur done breastfeeding no he does not “need” whole milk🙄 it’s literally cow puss. I’m not vegan or anything but people commenting telling you that you need to give your baby cow puss makes me mad 🤦‍♀️

Yes whole milk he needs the fats in it for brain development. Or supplement with other natural fats if he won’t/can’t drink it.

Nope nutritionally if your son is getting nutrients either from formula or breast milk or from eating food, no kind of milk is necessary. If you want to give him plant based milk for fun go for it.

Ask your doctor. Some people use milk alternatives but you want an answer from someone who knows your baby. If you give other full fat dairy or otherwise make sure he gets the nutrients, whole milk is not essential. But if you’re not doing any dairy you may need to be more intentional about making up for the calcium, fat, protein, and Vitamin D in his diet.

I believe it should be whole milk. You can continue to nurse, but you should be transitioning. You can do plant based milk or others if you want too. My daughter has a cow's milk allergy so we give her a pea protein milk recommended by the pediatrician. You should ask your pediatrician to see what they recommend you do.
