I didn’t see the point really since I’ve never used mine but my husband pointed out that if they ever join the military they need a middle name for admin purposes!

I think yes for identifying purposes. If there are two people with same names maybe the middle name can help identify the two. I am a teacher and it happens pretty often with students.
