Travel system or convertible car seat and individual stroller?

I can’t decide which would be more practical. The travel system sounds the most convenient, at least for a short(ish) time, letting the baby sleep and all. 
The convertible car seat with a completely separate stroller make me think I’d get more long-term use out of each. But then a friend told me I won’t likely use all the settings/size options on the car seat, so don’t waste my money. 
Does anyone with experience have some insight or advice?

I had both. We used the travel system until my son was about 5/6 months and went to a convertible car seat. Yeah we didnt use the infant seat long, but it was super handy when we did. I wouldnt have been able do it if we didnt have it. Especially since we had a travel system where we could just click in the infant seat in without out the actual stroller seat so it made shopping or eating out a breeze!! We also saved the infant seat for our next baby, so in the long run we are getting our worth out of it.

The travel system can also be used as a regular stroller. So you’ll only ever need to buy one stroller. 
So that’s my vote: the infant car seat that clips into the stroller, and then the stroller can be used regularly as the kid grows up.  
The convertible car seats are hard when they’re newborns because you’ve always got to transfer them.

A travel system makes it super easy when they are little. So you are aware, if you go with separate items, you need to get a stroller that is safe for infant use, so your options will be a bit different than if you buy a travel system. Trying them all out at BBB or another store that has floor models will give you a much better idea of what will work best for your family.

Keyfit 30 & Keyfit Caddy. Best thing ever and not expensive. The caddy is extremely light but very well made. Best purchase ever. Now that my little guy outgrew it we use a nice umbrella stroller. Also best decision ever. So light and manageable by myself and he loves it. Unless you plan to take your stroller off-roading, I honestly have no idea why people spend tons of money on them.

Travel system. One that the car seat snaps onto the stroller base. And also one that lets the ‘toddler’ seat lay flat like a bassinet.
Example😬 It’s so much easier with the infant seat at the beginning unless you wanna wake baby up every time you get out of the car (if they are asleep, my son knocked out with every car ride). I had my son in the convertible seat for like 1 week and then switched instead because he was always asleep in the car lol.

I used the infant car seat until my daughter was almost a year and then finally broke down and got a convertible car seat. I like how if we started with a convertible, we would most likely not had to buy another one. But on the other hand, my daughter sleeps in the car a lot and now I won't be able to take her car seat in the house for her to finish her nap. Also I used the stroller a lot when she was younger. It was convenient to just pop the car seat into the stroller and go. I also have a harder time seeing her in the mirror with the convertible. There are pros and cons with both, you'll just have to determine what you want out of a car seat.

The travel system is a regular stroller too, you wont need a second one unless you have more kids than it fits. 
If you go out a lot, I'd get the travel system. The infant carrier makes traveling much easier and we can stop by the store withoit waking baby up by taking her out of her seat to shop.

I had this same problem when i was pregnant with my son last year, i was contenplating to just get the convertible but i ended up getting a travel system cuz the pro outweighs the cons, we live in NJ and it can be very cold during winter here and it’s snowing here too so that’s the main reason i had to go with travel system and i’m glad i did lol... we swtitch our son to convertible carseat at 7 months to save the travel system cuz we’re pregnant again and it’s been 2 months since we did and sometimes wish we could still have him on baby carseat cuz when he’s asleep i have to wake hin up even tho he just fell asleep 😩 it’s so convinient to have the travel system for sure.

Both! UPPAbaby vista stroller and car seat. My daughter is 9 months and still in the infant seat. All depends on your child’s size.

I had the same dilemma. I decided to get a convertible carseat and a stroller. I didn't like the travel systems and I wanted a small lightweight stroller. The travel systems I did like were britax and they were too much money imo. In the long run it just felt more practical to not get a travel system. If money isn't an issue I'd recommend looking into the britax line if you really want a travel system.
