Worried?

Babygirl eats 2 oz of formula milk every 2-3 hours. She is currently 6 weeks, going onto 7 weeks. I’m worried that it’s not enough milk. I read of others feeding 4oz. But after 2oz, she does seem content and if she’s still hungry I will breastfeed.

As long as she's happy and gaining weight well then it doesn't matter

My baby eats the same amount. She will 7 weeks this Thursday. We just saw our pedi and brought up your same concern. She said at this age, 2-3 oz is completely healthy and an adequate amount for baby. She will tell you when she’s ready to eat more. I actually upped her amount and she became constipated. Her little system just isn’t quite ready for the 4 oz or above yet.

my baby all over the place with feeds these last few weeks... he also nearly 7 weeks old and he was on 3oz of milk from birth basically and at around 2 weeks went to 4oz and was fine but started getting aggy at 4 weeks so upped him to 5oz and he was taking it fine for a couple of days each feed then all of a sudden he went all over the place started taking 2-3oz here 3-4 oz there occasionally only 1oz and other times 5oz (split bottles aka 3oz first then 2oz after or sometimes make a 4oz then do an extra 2oz but he only takes 1oz sometimes the full extra 2oz making 6oz) the other day he took 7oz in 2 feeds a 5oz then done extra 2oz in same bottle about 20 mins later .... he taking his time at feeds and plays with the teat at times he also sleeping less in the day (short frequent sleeps)crying alot of the time when he is awake so feed him again as nothing settles him then only takes a little before falling asleep again but wont take the dummy alot of the time its getting tiring however at night he sleeps through mostly every night now so cant complain about that but got a 2 year old (he turned 2 5 days after I had baby) who being a little pain so it can get annoying when they both want me at same time I have to leave one crying/screaming for a bit and most of the time it's my toddler which I feel sorry for but baby screams so bad I dont want him to get into too much of a state but then he can scream like this for his bottle and take 2 or 3oz but be playing with the teat even though he been changed or not long fed before (sometimes) winded but he dont bring it up easily (tried gripe water and infacol) try holding him everything so end up feeding again its getting a lot but I wouldn't change it as he is putting on weight and sleeping through the night is an extra bonus I'd rather feed so often just to mean he sleeps through (10pm -5/6 am then feed put back to sleep until 9am ish if toddler not woken in meantime these are on an average night not every night ) and once toddler awake it then goes manic again but deep down I do love it all

My last baby was the same way. It took forever to increase her ounces. I felt like all I did the first year was feed her! She is a happy, healthy 2.5 year old now. If your babe is gaining weight and the pediatrician doesn’t have any concerns all should be good. I was super concerned too at the time, but all babies are different.
