How much screen time does your 2 to 3 year use/watch in a day? Also, ways to successfully reduce screen time.

Question

My son is having issues in daycare and I am trying to calm him down and basically just rule out anything that I can do to prevent too much hyperactivity. 
I just read an article about screen time.  And quite frankly it scared the crap out of me. So I have decided to cut most of it out of his life.  I just dont want stress him out  to the point where he retaliates and becomes aggressive.  
Has anyone has a hyper toddler that screen time was taken away? Any tips will be greatly appreciated.  Ty

I think you just need to cut it out cold turkey. We probably watch less than an hour a day and sometimes none at all. However there are days when we watch more and my kid is noticeably more difficult and acts out more. I think you just need to stop letting him watch TV/phone/tablet all together. 
To keep our 2yo occupied we so lots of hands on activities. We have a sensory bin made with dried beans and she digs and scoops them. It’s a little messy but nothing the vacuum can’t handle. We also do a lot of play dough (especially in the stroller if we need to go to a store or on a long walk) coloring (crayons, color wonder markers) blocks, books, etc
She also like to help cook so I try and Include her in that. She loves playing in the sink so sometimes we will do that for a while. 
Bubbles, painting, making dough and playing with it. 
They have all kinds of recipes for different dough to make for kids. I let her help me make it and they sit her in the tub in just a diaper and let her go nuts. It controls the mess and she has a blast.

My ped says less than 1 hour a day is recommended. I have a 2 year old and a 6 week old so sometimes he gets more than that. If I want him to have less or a no screen time day I just hide his iPad and we stay busy. He doesn’t even realize. If he asks for it, I bribe him by taking him outside for a walk or to the park. He’s really easy going and easy to distract so it works well for us.

Less than one hour a day, more like 15 minutes with the phone and less than an hour with the tv. We made my son stop cold turkey one day because my parents were allowing him to watch a lot of videos to entertain him (pisses me off that they still do it) mind you, my son is 20 months old. He didn't complain because we introduced more hands on toys where tv would distract him and he was more interested in his toys. He's a bit hyper too when the tv is on I have noticed so that may be the problem with us too. Try taking screen time away slowly for him so he doesn't become aggressive and throw tantrums

Instead of screen time, we listen to a lot of music, play out in the yard, go on walks, read books, throw balls, color/draw and do puzzles. I have a cover over my TV so you don’t even notice that it’s there. On the rare occasion we use screen time, its for about 15 minutes tops (or 4 to 5 music videos). I and the older kids are only allowed to watch TV when my 2 yo is napping.

None. My child is 3, and the only thing they get to see are documentaries about oceans and animals. 
I don’t believe in tv for kids under 5. There are books, toys, all kinds of things I can do with my child that doesn’t require a tv. I also refuse to let a TV be a babysitter. My child plays with their toys, books, art supplies, all kinds of things. 
I don’t want my child to rely on tv to keep them entertained. At his daycare, they play outside, they read, they have a gym, a dance class, art class, writing, all kinds of things to keep their imaginations going. 
When my child is 5-6 they might get 30 minutes or an hour of TV. But it won’t be Disney.

My son’s been getting some extra screen time recently because I’ve been pregnant and preoccupied with a newborn. I’ve been trying to cut it back the last couple weeks. I tell him we’re turning off the TV after this episode, I remind him frequently it’s going to happen, he throws a little fit when I turn it off, then we talk about if he wants to go on a walk outside or find something to do inside. For inside activities I let him scroll through my Pinterest for something he wants to do, I have a board for crafts and another for cooking with him. Sometimes he doesn’t want to do anything so I let him lay on the couch and I start reading my novel, he almost always decides he wants me to read his books to him then.

None. Sometimes we’ll watch a movie together or if there’s a long car ride I let her watch one on my phone but it’s not an everyday thing at all.
