37 Weeks Breast Biopsy-would you do it???

Megan

I recently had a breast ultrasound because I told my dr. I noticed “bloody brown” discharge mixed in with my colostrum that was coming in. This happened for the first time around 33 weeks and happened a handful of times. I was told by my OB that I needed a breast ultrasound, even though my local lactation consultant said it sounded like a classic case of “rusty pipes” I was t experiencing pain, discomfort, or unusual bumps/lumps. The bloody brown discharge was only happening when forcibly expressed at this point.

I went for the ultrasound because my OB made me nervous, even after feeling reassured by the lactation consultant.

Ultrasound came back clear of anything suspicious and I even got an official screening letter stating no sign of cancer was found. And I thought that was a clean bill of health. However, my OB still wants me to go for a surgical consult and a potential biopsy. At this point, I’m 37 weeks pregnant, uncomfortable, and haven’t experienced ANY type of weird discharge in about 2 weeks. I don’t even know what they biopsy since they said they didn’t find anything.

I’m being induced at 39 weeks, I have lots to do to prepare for baby, and I don’t want to be spending extra money on medical procedures that are probably not even necessary.

Dr. Ultimately said it was my decision, but now I’m feeling nervous or guilty. Any insight? What would you do?
