Thinking of getting an IUD, PLEASE HELP

I have very terribly painful period cramps and I visited a gynaecologist recently. I’ve found that birth control does nothing to help my cramping at all and I told her all about it.

She recommended that I either try an IUD or a different brand of birth control pills.

I really dislike birth control pills and I don’t want to have to remember to take a pill every day with the consequence being that if I miss a single pill I will bleed and probably throw up in bed all day.

I would just like to know what any of your personal experiences are with IUDs and if they helped any of you with your cramping or stopped your period all together.
