When do babies start imitating ?

My 6 month old doesn’t imitate me yet ? Is this normal or is she too young ? I’ve been trying to clap and she doesn’t clap back. The only thing she would imitate is smiling. If I smile she will smile back at me.

Most babies can’t clap their hands until 7-8 months or so. They can start imitating sounds now but it’s still early for that too.

My daughter will nod her head, stick out her tongue and smile in return to us doing it. She also gives us “kisses” when we are playing with her. It’s sweet 😊
