No cervical check?

Question

Anyone choosing to not get your cervix checked these last few weeks? I am 38 weeks and have asked to not be checked. I don't want the pressure of a number (or no number) especially since it can change in a matter of hours. Just curious!

That was my plan, and then curiosity got the better of me and I got checked at 38+5.  I wasn’t dilated at all and feeling super defeated and convinced I’d be pregnant forever.  Water broke at 39+3 and I went from 2-10 in 12 hours.  The point of this is, I wish I hadn’t gotten checked and that I had stuck with my plan.  Good luck!

I agree!! Everyone keeps asking if I've dilated any. They are shocked when I tell them that I am not having that checked. My body will go into labor on its own time, I don't need a number 🤷🏼‍♀️

My doctor won't check until I'm at least 39 weeks. Which makes sense since he won't take any action until then if needed. So what's the point of knowing how close or far away you feel based upon a number that could still take weeks to progress more.

I’m not planning on getting checked until I’m in labor or past due by a week. I don’t even think my midwives offer them until late. I’m pretty baffled when women are being checked super early

My doctor is the absolute best. She hasn't been on me about my weight gain and she doesn't want to induce me at all. She wants me to have a natural birth and won't check my cervix unless I say something. She believes in just letting my body do what it needs to do.

My doctor agreed to not check at my 38 week appointment but keeps saying “next appointment” and I plan on declining again. It’s annoying because his reasoning is that this can be useful if we need to talk about inductions at 40 weeks.... even though he had previously told me as a FTM I’m probably looking to deliver between 40-42 weeks

I will ask to get checked at 40 weeks but not before then and at that point just out of curiosity.
I agree there's not a point ton ton checked so early in my mind except causing you to obsess over a number that could change (or not) very quickly.

No cervical checks. Only 2 ultrasounds. No intravaginal. 
With my first I had like a million ultrasounds. Peed in a cup every visit. Blood work It felt like every other visit. And cervical checks starting at 36 weeks.

I'm 39+3 with 5 days left and haven't had a cervical check at all my midwifes dont see the point in checking since it's not a great indicator of labor.
