PIO shot advice??

So I’ve been doing PIO for 3 weeks. I ice before then massage and apply heat after. The last few days my butt hurts lol and I have like welts on each side. Any advice?

I’m in the same boat as you, but I’ve only been taking them for 2 weeks. Mine hurt really bad too. My method method is to ice it for about 10 minutes, shot, heat for about 5 minutes and then a butt massage. 
Some shots haven’t been bad but others are still swollen and bruised from a week again. I think a lot of it has to do with where the injection site is. I had my husband color it with marker — above the crack and the outer half of the cheek. 
Good luck and I just keep telling myself that at the end of the day, it’s for a great cause.

I agree with the folks who say to stop the ice. I heated before and after (as well as ran a rolling pin over the injection site for a few minutes after), which was what my RE’s office recommended. This worked great for most of my PIO run! 
I did PIO shots for about 14 weeks—a few weeks before my FET and then for the whole first trimester. I would say that for all but the last couple of weeks, I had no pain at all. The last couple of weeks I did end up with pain—a combo of tenderness and some nerve irritation. I hadn’t changed my methods, but we received a larger gauge syringe from our pharmacy, so I wonder if that made a difference.

Heat &  massage. The hip/butt area was less painful than the thigh for me. It's going to hurt regardless though.  To be completely honest there will be blood, bruises, lumps, scars and soreness.  It's worth it when you are holding your little baby.  😍😀😁

I agree that ice doesn't help. I tried that at first but didn't like it. It's harder for cold muscle tissue to absorb the oil.  I warmed the syringe under my boob for about 10 minutes before the shot and it helped. The heating pad after helped too. I tried having my husband massage my bum after the shot, but that seemed to push the oil out of my muscle and into the fat in my saddlebags which made them ache. So we stopped that. A friend of mine swears by massaging though so its probably different for everyone.  I've heard if you go too far down or too far in on your butt to give the shot that it hurts more.  We liked the nurse Linda POI videos on YouTube for reference and reassurance. You can also always ask the clinic as well.  
At the end of the day, I hate to say it, but they do just hurt. Some more than others and there didn't seem to be rhyme or reason to the ones that hurt more or less. Hang in there and take it one day at a time. You'll get through it before you know it.

I would stop icing. Putting oil into a cold muscle probably isnt the best idea. I always warmed the oil for a few minutes in warm water before I injected it.
