My now formula fed 13w old baby is suffering really bad with silent reflux. We’ve tried;

Sitting up after feeds

Burping frequently

Ranitidine / Zantac

Milk thickener

Gaviscon

Lactose free milk

What else can I do? Does anyone have any tips? I’m arranging a dr appointment but just incase anyone else has experienced similar. Please help!!

My son had silent reflux when he was 3 months, I thought it was colic until HV said it looks like reflux. I then gave him Aptamil anti-reflux formula , that worked very well. He had few worse weeks but gaviscon helped aling with the formula.

Omeprazole and anti reflux formula is what helped our little one. Ranitidine didn’t work for her either. The omeprazole took about a week to fully work (though we saw results from the first day) and now it’s completely under control. We also tilted her crib and put a towel under her bassinet basket so it was at a slight incline.Good luck with the doctor! I promise it gets better x

Has your doctor or health visitor considered a cows milk allergy? My son had horrible silent reflux, after exploring several other avenues his paediatric consultant prescribed hydrolysed formula and milk thickener. Total game changer for us and he was like a different baby, still had the silent reflux but it wasn't as bad and he was so much more settled

My son was on nutramigen, he was great on it but it does still have some cows milk protein in it. I'd give it a few weeks and ask to try something like neocate if he's still the same. I know how awful it is not being able to do anything for them I totsy feel your pain. It was months before my little boy finally settled

He’s on the nutramigen 1 milk. It’s a hydrolysed formula I’m just not sure how long to try it for before asking for something else

We noticed a difference within a couple of feeds but it can take up to 6 weeks for dairy to leave their system. Which milk is he on now? If he's on a hydrolised formula and it's not agreeing with him he may need an amino acid formula instead

What about the bottles? My son was hurrendous until we invested in some Dr brown bottles and then he was excellent

Are you sure its reflux. We thought my daughter had it, turned out it was a tongue tie. Doctors and HVs are not clued up on it. We ended up going private to have it diagnosed and snipped. Hope you get sorted. X

She would have the first few swallows then fight it because she was taking in so much air it was hurting. We tried the thickened milk and Gaviscon they refused to give me ranitidine which is why we went private. She was squirming because of the pain, very gassy, sneezing and a clicking noise when feeding. Found our practicioner on tongue-tie.org.uk.

Really! My HV says it’s reflux because he’s fighting the bottle. Any other signs I should look out for with a tie?
