Ever since I was a child I’d call my mom by her name only when we were separated in big public places bc she’d respond better to her name than “mom”🤷‍♀️

I use my parents first names when we are at events with lots of people. Usually I'll yell "mom" or "dad" first, but when you're in a place surrounded by parents that never really works. So in those situations I'll call their first names. I'll probably expect my kids to do the same. Just mom for the most part, but first name is fine if we're in a place where that won't work.

My son turns around and says mine and my partner’s name. His logic is mum and dad aren’t our names so I think that’s a pretty forward way of thinking.
