Any advice to make it through the witching hour?! 😩

Wine 🍷??? When is your witching “hour”? Mine went thru a phase where it was from 5 pm to about 8 pm then bedtime which she always fell right asleep. During that time- sometimes shorter periods- I’d try to take her on a walk to calm her down or just walk around the house with her, move her to different rooms. Sometimes even handing her off to someone ( family members if available) made a huge positive difference

*avoid letting their open screaming mouth face right towards your ear. It will rattle your skull and instantly make you feel more fed up with the situation.  I’m not trying to make jokes, 100 percent serious! You may not be able to stop the crying but you can aim the sonic scream a different direction. 
*if you feel like you’re losing your mind, make sure baby is fed, dry diaper, and seemingly comfortable (within your means) and put them down in a safe spot, and go to another room for a bit. 
*when you get desperate, swaddle, paci, and stand up while you bounce and sway side to side
*don’t take the incessant crying personally... may sound silly but if you remember that they aren’t angry with you in particular it can help you deal 
*repeat after me, this is TEMPORARY! More temporary than feels possible. So take all the pics when he’s at his best or sleeping and just know that your baby will soon be able to smile and giggle at you, and like labor, you’ll forget all about the hard stuff. 😍🥰

I just make that the bedtime routine signal for myself. I lotion her up, change her diaper, put her in jammies, swaddle (until shes rolling), bottle and by then it's been 1 hour and she is asleep. I feel that if I'm doing something knowing it will eventually soothe her to sleep I'm not as frustrated. It's not stopping the crying right now, but it is heading in the direction of a peaceful night.

I called it the “Jeopardy meltdown” with my first born, bc from 7-7:30 pm east coast time, he cried, while Jeopardy was on!!! i moved all around the family room for those 30 mins for about 6 weeks. Then it stopped! It’s just a phase! Best of luck mama !!!

Mine went through the witching hour usually beginning around 6pm. When we moved bedtime up earlier it really helped. Whenever he would start the fussy madness we would start bedtime and it always calmed him down. By about 10 weeks we didn’t have witching hour at all anymore.
