Those with dogs, what is your plan?

Long annoying dog mom post but I need advice:
I know they say to always have your dog at home when you bring home baby.. 
But I just feel like it will be best for my dad to take my pup for a few days. He is a hyper, jumpy, one year old pit bull, who hasn’t been around a newborn before. And this dog loves going to my dads! Not to mention every time he comes home from his house he’s worn out for days from all the playing he does there. 
When we come home from our hospital stay and bring home our baby I would love  to get settled in for a day and then have my dad bring the dog back to us. Is this a bad idea? 
I feel like it’s a better plan than having different people come to our house to watch him. He’s more used to just going to my dads house than being thrown off by us just not coming home for a few days. 
Any related experiences?

I don't see an issue with it. Do what's going to make your more comfortable and what's best for you. It doesnt matter if the dogs "meets" baby right away for a few days later. The dog isnt going to know the difference. Just introduce the scent to him first with a blankie from baby and slowly allow closer proximity to the baby.

We have 3 dogs all just over a year old and we plan on having someone watch them while we are in hospital and when we get home I plan in having fiance stay outside with our son for a few minutes. I plan on going inside with a baby blanket we wrapped our son in and letting the dogs get their excitement of seeing me again and be able to get a whiff of babies scent then having fiance come in with our son.

My dog is my BEST FRIEND. And I love her like a child. She’s a chocolate lab very calm and great with kids. But even I am going to have her stay with my mother in law for a day or 2 after I get home from the hospital so that I can adjust and rest for a min before I introduce her. There is nothing wrong with your plan in my eyes. And if she loves your dads house that’s even more comforting for you to know your dog is somewhere safe and not miserable :)

Honestly, I think you should do whatever you’re comfortable with because you know your dog the most. Maybe call your vet for advice? 
I’m personally going to leave my dog at home. While I’m in the hospital I’ll have someone bring blankets home so the dogs can get use to her scent by the time we get home.

It's perfectly fine. Take him over something the baby wore like blanket with baby's smell. That way he can familiarize before ever meeting.

I plan on having my in laws take our dogs until we get home and settled then bring them home. That way they know the baby is to stay and not just visit, we have 3 so I want to only let them come in one at a time. I have a feeling my female is gonna be super protective of little man 😍. Do what is best for you and baby!!

We sent our dog to his sitter when we brought the baby home. Can’t remember how long he stayed with her but maybe a week! We gave him the babys hat from the hospital too. Never had any issues when he came home. My son is 15 months and they’re best friends.

I think you should do what you are comfortable with. We also have a pretty hyper dog who is smaller. I talked to my vet about what we can do to help ease his transition. She suggested getting a baby doll that cries and using it to train the dog how to react around the newborn (such as being gentle, not barking as a reaction to crying, not jumping etc.).

That sounds like a good idea. And maybe send a baby blanket that smells like the baby to get him used to the smell before he comes. 
My pups I’m keeping at my house but they have no where else to go and they’re small dogs and older. I plan to have a blanket that the baby was wrapped up in and bring home before baby comes so they can smell him and such. Then when we get home have hubby go in and settle them a bit then come back out. I go back in by myself then we bring baby and let them smell him n such. They get very excited when we come home and if I’m gone a long time they will want to see me and get all over me.
